Ausrocks, established in 1995, is a company specialising in quarry design, quarry geotechnical assessment (with Associates), valuations, quarry marketing, resource assessment (with Associates), sand projects (dry mining and dredging), drill and blast design, Measure While Drilling (MWD) assessment, specialised civil excavation design (surface and underground), quarry blasting design, preparation of Development Applications and application of a wide range of unique consulting skills in metals and industrial minerals. Australian owned, the company operates from Geebung, in Brisbane, 20 minutes from the CBD. 


Alan Robertson, Director of Ausrocks, has over 30 years of experience in the Mining, Quarrying and Tunnelling industries. In May 2006, Coffey Mining purchased TIP and Alan became a Principal Mining Engineer, consulting on open cut mining and quarry projects throughout Australia. In September 2008, he resigned from Coffey Mining and joined AVKO Mining, an Australian – owned underground and surface mining and civil contracting company as a Consultant, through his company, Ausrocks Pty Ltd (Ausrocks). In mid – 2009 Alan formed the AVKO Mining Quarry Consulting Group and on February 1st 2010 Ausrocks, by mutual agreement, took over the consulting arm of AVKO Mining which Ausrocks had developed.

Six years on from its inception Alan has passed the torch on to Senior Engineer Carl Morandy, who takes over as Managing Director, but Alan is still directly involved on a day to day basis. They are supported by Senior Mining Engineer Adebayo Bayooke, Senior Town Planner Wendy Wood, Mining Engineer Dale Brown, and Technical Officer Nick Virisheff. 


Ausrocks is a long time supporter of the University of Queensland’s School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, and regularly employs students from the university to help them gain much needed work experience and industry exposure.
